Presenter: Prof. Tadafumi Adschiri, Tohoku University
Prof. Tadafumi Adschiri is an international leader in the field of supercritical water technology and a member of the Science Council of Japan. His research in the generation of nano-catalysts with supercritical water has significant impacts on the future of renewable energy, especially as it relates to biomass conversion. He is visiting the state of Hawaii to attend the Pacifichem conference in Honolulu and will be a guest of Cellana for the day. We are fortunate to be able to have him speak to us while he is in Kona.
Prof. Adschiri graduated from The University of Tokyo in 1981 and went on to earn the degree of Doctor of Engneering there in 1986.In 1989, he moved to Tohoku University, and began to study reactions in supercritical fluids, including biomass conversion, chemical recycling of wastes, new organic reactions and materials synthesis. He is the inventor of “supercritical hydrothermal synthesis” for nanoparticles.
After the presentation, we will have pupus, drinks, and conversation. We are informal and it is potluck, so please bring a pupu and non-alcoholic beverage to share. Reusable plates and cups are encouraged, as is taking home your own trash.
